The ABES-R2 SV was standardized on samples of 3,288 (4-12 form) and 1,897 (13-18 form) students. The ABES-R2 HV was standardized on samples of 1,998 (4-12 form) and 1,034 (13-18 form) students. All samples included individuals from 30 different states in the U.S., and closely approximated demographic characteristics of that country as of the year 2000.

ABES-R2 13-18: The authors report internal consistencies above 0.80 for all subscales in both the HV and the SV. Test-retest reliabilities for those forms ranged from 0.60-0.85. Inter-rater reliabilities ranged from 0.61-0.73.

ABES-R2 4-12 SV: The authors report internal consistencies above 0.85 for all subscales. Test-retest reliabilities ranged from 0.61-.078, and inter-rater reliabilities ranged from 0.60-0.80.

The authors report comparisons with a number of other scales that established concurrent validity for both the child and adolescent forms of the ABES-R2. The authors also report strong support for the construct validity of the instrument.
