The AADIS is a combination of two other instruments: the Adolescent Alcohol Involvement Scale (AAIS; Mayer & Filstead, 1979) and the Adolescent Drug Involvement Scale (ADIS; Moberg & Hahn, 1991)

Internal consistencies of 0.92-0.95 were reported. The ADIS reported an internal consistency of 0.85.

Is able to reliably discriminate between subjects with a substance use disorder and those without. Its specificity is substantially better than its sensitivity (i.e. it is better at detecting true negatives than true positives).
