Supporting the next generation of mental health researchers

We’re proud to partner with Mental Health Research Canada (MHRC) to provide studentships to enable new and young researchers in Ontario to engage in innovative and impactful mental health research and help close the gap between evidence and practice by strengthening relationships with agencies.
MHRC regularly offers mental health impact studentships jointly with Mitacs to students across Canada at various stages of their academic careers. This time around, we joined in to help support three Ontario students with projects beginning in May. Each project will be carried out over the next four to six months, in partnership with the student’s academic advisor and a community organization.
Valued at $15,000 per student, this is an investment that will have an impact in our sector now and into the future. Congratulations to our recipients:

  • Candace Roberts, Carleton University and St. Mary’s Home, Ottawa
  • Shannon Coyle, Canadore College and Children’s Aid Society, North Bay
  • Maria Nicula, McMaster University and Body Brave, Hamilton
