According to a global survey published in the Lancet Planetary Health in 2021, most young people worry about climate change and 45% report that their worries negatively impact their daily life and functioning. This brief defines eco-anxiety, explores how it affects young people and provides guidance for how to help those who experience a range of feelings about climate change and its devastating implications for the future.

This learning resource was developed primarily for Good2Talk staff. Good2Talk/Allo J’écoute is a post-secondary helpline funded through the Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities. It is a partnership among Kids Help Phone, ConnexOntario, Ontario 211 and the Knowledge Institute on Child and Youth Mental Health and Addictions.
